Hello!
I've never done a blog post before, I'm not even sure where this will post and or how it will look but we're gonna find out!
I'm just going to take a minute to introduce myself as my inaugural post. My name is Joe, I'm a 35 year old married dad of two lively daughters. I have been training Jiu Jitsu since October of 2022.
I have been passionate about fitness since I was about 17 years old. Prior to training Jiu Jitsu, I started my fitness journey (so cliche but I don't know what else to call it!) with running, then found I enjoyed lifting weights more. I competed once in the NPC Men's Physique division but what I enjoyed most about lifting weights was both the improved quality of life personally, but also helping people transition to a healthier lifestyle and seeing them enjoy the same improved quality of life. Being in shape is a game changer!
Jiu Jitsu had always been in the back of my mind as something I'd like to try sometime and once my schedule allowed for it, I quickly became addicted! Since starting, I've lost 40lbs, quit drinking, learned a valuable skill, gained a bunch of new friends, have a healthy hobby I can do with my kids and started MatRat! It's truly been life-changing and I know that's an experience shared by the majority of (if not all!) Jiu Jitsu practitioners.
Thank you for reading this and I appreciate your support!
